Predicted human survival rate at Mana stabilization: 18.5%

More than 30% of humans dead. My SMI recognizes them as my Clan and I admit I’m starting to feel that way. I’m not sure what I can do about it yet, but I won’t accept that I can’t do anything about it. What we achieved getting Carter back to Calgary still seems important to me, but it’s dwarfed by something much bigger. Somehow, thinking of people I know, or even people I don’t know, being sold into slavery or being crushed by Galactic powers seems worse than them dying suddenly in some cataclysmic event.

When will the suffering end? How long do we live now that Mana enhances our bodies? What if millions of humans are destined for hundreds of years of slavery and abuse? That shit can’t stand. I don’t have the power to do anything about it right now, but maybe one day I could. If we can stay alive and Level and find others who want to fight.

The other two Team Red members walk in and stop for a second, seeing our faces. The moment passes and Gurag lays into me straightaway about being banned from Fergburger. Great start, really - welcome to the team.
